As one highlight, Regional Sales Manager Rüdiger Wagner will elaborate on todays’ key challenges facing pharma manufacturing during the show’s packaging equipment and materials session. His speech takes place on 24 November 2016, 13:25 h, at Conference Hall E.

One focus of Wagner’s presentation will be on ready-to-use (RTU) solutions. “We hear from our customers that flexibility is what matters most to them”, Wagner explained. “This applies especially to the biotech industry which is moving towards personalized drugs. The volumes involved are too small to lend themselves to traditional high-volume production methods.” As a result, pharma companies need an option for supplying small volumes with incredibly precise requirements. “This is where ready-to-use solutions come into play”, says Wagner. “If pharma companies can fill several types of packaging on the same filling lines flexibly without long set-up times, this will make them more efficient and lower their costs.”

A new generation of possibilities

With its adaptiQ® platform, SCHOTT is presenting a solution which caters exactly to these needs. adaptiQ® ready-to-use vials are pre-sterilized and packed in nests and tubs, simplify the filling process as they relieve pharma manufacturers from performing the pre-treating steps of depyrogenation, washing and sterilization. Up to 100 pharmaceutical vials are securely fixed inside the nest. Since based on proven standards, this enables pharma companies to process different types of packaging on the same production lines and without long set-up times. This way, even smaller batches can be filled very efficiently.

“Ever since we introduced this concept to the market it generated great interest within the industry. As of today 6R, 10R, 20R and 30R ISO formats are available. We are continuously extending our range and will complete the portfolio soon.”
