SCHOTT employees donate money to help their colleagues from Nepal

More than 30,000 euros in direct aid for victims of the earthquake
Two months ago today, Nepal was hit by a severe earthquake. Many of the 62 employees of the specialty glass manufacturer SCHOTT from Nepal who work for the optical glass production site in Penang, Malaysia, are personally affected. Their houses and apartments back in their native country were either destroyed or damaged. Some of these people even lost family members.

Shortly after the natural disaster occurred, the Board of Management and the Works Council initiated a global internal fundraising campaign together. The willingness of SCHOTT’s employees to help has been immense. Employees at many of the sites in Asia, Europe and America have donated money to help their colleagues from Nepal. In total, more than 30,000 euros have been donated.

The Plant Manager of SCHOTT Glass Malaysia in Penang distributed the donations personally to those affected as direct aid mainly so that they can purchase blankets and food and pay for repairs on their houses and apartments.
