Mainz & Cologne, Germany, November 21, 2013 – The international technology group SCHOTT is exhibiting its proven anti-reflective glass product AMIRAN® at Exponatec in Cologne (Hall 3.2, Booth B59). This glass eliminates annoying reflections and is thus ideal for use in constructing display cases and glazing important works of art. SCHOTT has further developed its oleophobic DARO coating especially for use with its anti-reflective AMIRAN® glass. The panes come coated to permanently reduce annoying fingerprints and achieve significantly better cleaning results.

“We are convinced that DARO-coated AMIRAN® glass will be of particular interest to museums and art dealers. That is why we are presenting an example of it at Exponatec,” says Jürgen Fortenbacher, Strategic Marketing Manager at SCHOTT Advanced Optics. The tabletop display case on exhibit consists of two panes of AMIRAN® glass, one of which features the DARO coating while the other does not. “Visitors will be able to convince themselves of the functionality and quality of this material and see a direct comparison,” he adds.

The oil-repellent effect of the DARO coating makes it impossible for fingerprints to leave significant traces on glass panes. The coated glass also offers long-term resistance to chemical and mechanical wear and can be cleaned very easily using a dry, soft towel.

SCHOTT is developing new application possibilities for its highly resistant, oleophobic coating. The company looks on its excellent experience with DARO-coated CONTURAN® panes that are used to produce large, high resolution displays and touch applications.

AMIRAN® is a registered trademark of SCHOTT AG. DARO stands for “durable, anti-reflective, oleophobic.”
