20 years of success in Lanškroun

SCHOTT has been manufacturing components for use in electronics at its Czech site for two decades
Lanškroun, March 19th, 2013 – SCHOTT Electronic Packaging will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of manufacturing in Lanškroun in March. To mark this occasion, the company invited local politicians and prominent members of society, as well as its own employees and the employees of neighboring companies to a festive celebration. The audience learned more about the successful operations at the site and the future prospects for the division. A guided tour of manufacturing rounded off the event.

The SCHOTT plant in Lanškroun that officially opened in 1993 has grown to become a renowned production facility and first-class supplier to the electronics industry. One reason is definitely its high process and product standards that have been certified in accordance with all relevant industry standards. The company is a highly respected supplier of glass-to-metal feedthroughs, but also special glass components, and even one of the industry leaders with a few of its products, housings for airbags, for example. Key markets include the automotive industry and optoelectronics.

SCHOTT, with more than 450 employees, clearly ranks as one of the largest employers in the Pardubice region. One unique thing about the Lanškroun plant is that SCHOTT offers its employees flexible working time models that accommodate families.

“Besides the competitive manufacturing costs in the region, our innovative products, high productivity and excellent manufacturing quality have been the main factors in our success here in Lanškroun. The solid qualifications and high motivation of our employees form the basis for what we have achieved,” explains Hermann Ditz, Executive Vice President SCHOTT AG. Libor Peichl, the site manager at SCHOTT Electronic Packaging in Lanškroun, adds: “SCHOTT anticipates the trends in the industry and thus continues on with the 50-year tradition of manufacturing glass and metal in our region.”

Ms. Stanislava Svarcova, the mayor of Lanškroun, states: „I really appreciate SCHOTT’s presence. SCHOTT is an important company in this town that significantly contributes to the high employment level and therefore also supports increased living standards in Lanškroun region.“

The plant in Lanškroun has grown to become an important site in the area of automotive components for the entire SCHOTT Group that employs around 16,000 people in 35 different countries. The plant has already been expanded several times since it first opened. Development work on new products is performed at the Czech plant as well as at the main plant in Landshut (Germany). Lanškroun is the leader in manufacturing automotive safety components.
