Dubai, January 14, 2013 – The international technology group SCHOTT will be showcasing its fire rated glass products PYRAN® S and PYRANOVA® at INTERSEC trade show (booth 7-431F). Also on display is the new “secure” product range: all-in-one highly resistant safety glazing solutions that prevent fire, smoke and heat from spreading in case of fire and offer protection against burglary attempts and small arms fire. SCHOTT’s fire rated glass represents a technically sophisticated product range for high-end applications tested to accommodate the highest safety standards and meet all legal requirements. The company has been present in the Middle East since 2006 and has been actively promoting its fire resistant glazing and architectural products ever since.

SCHOTT has now teamed up with the region’s specialist for architectural glass, White Aluminum Enterprises, to better serve the booming construction industry in the region. “We are proud that SCHOTT has established itself as a brand name for top-quality fire resistant glazing. The co-operation with top player White Aluminum is very valuable as we are able to achieve much quicker times to market resulting in considerably shorter project realization cycles,” says Hermito Fernandes, Sales Manager for SCHOTT in the Middle East.

General Manager of White Aluminum, Jabr Doshan, adds: “We are pleased to have SCHOTT as a partner. We extended our product range to include the fire-related glass types and are now able to offer a completely new value proposition to the market.”

At INTERSEC, SCHOTT is showcasing its latest generation of safety glasses:

The PYRAN® S Butt Joint system uses a special silicone joint to join the panes of glass together without a frame. The light and smooth sheets of glass appear virtually endless and guarantee a clear view without disturbing vertical profiles. PYRAN® S is a monolithic, thermally tempered borosilicate safety glass in accordance with DIN EN Standard 13024-1. It is classified to meet the fire resistance classes E 30, E 60, E 90 and E 120.

PYRANOVA® is a compact, laminated composite glass for use in fire resistant glazing of the fire resistance class EI (F). In the event of a fire, it provides effective protection from the spreading of fire, smoke and hot gases for up to two hours. Thanks to its embedded transparent fire resistant layers that foam when a fire breaks out, this glazing also features an additional effective barrier against heat.

The new “secure” products are not only highly effective against all kinds of attacks, but also meet the growing demands of architects with respect to aesthetics and design. The two exhibited solutions, PYRANOVA® secure and NOVOLAY® secure, offer maximum security despite their light weight. Their thickness and weight can be more than 50 percent thinner and lighter than that of competitive products. In addition, they are known for their high transparency thanks to their unique optical brilliance and high thermal resistance.

“We recommend using PYRANOVA® secure whenever maximum multifunctional requirements must be met. If no fire protection is necessary, however, we recommend NOVOLAY® secure, a product that offers high transparency and low specific density thanks to the special composition of this glass,” Fernandes notes. Both products are suitable for use in impact and penetration resistant glazing according to DIN EN 356 and bullet resistant glazing according to DIN EN 1063.
