Universal Home initiative presents future scenarios on “Living in 2030”

SCHOTT a member in the company network project on innovative solutions for the future
The company network Universal Home presented the results that its 10 member companies have compiled on the subject of “Living in the year 2030” at a meeting held today at the Zollverein World Heritage site in Essen, Germany. The technology group and special glass manufacturer SCHOTT is a member of this network of companies that support the joint, cross- company development of future products and technologies. Universal Home makes this innovation platform on topics like living in the future, efficient use of energy, ultramodern materials, the latest products and technologies for demanding users available to its members.

“SCHOTT has been conducting research on the use of glass and glass-ceramics in innovative products for the many different markets for many years. Technologies for modern buildings, whether the focus is on private homes or company buildings, are one particularly important topic. For this reason, we welcome and support this initiative and are pleased to be able to contribute our expertise on topics like homes and living,” says Dr. Ulrich Ackermann, a member of the SCHOTT Corporate Management Committee.

“Intelligent networking of various types of technologies and worlds of experience inside a building are one of the main focuses both today and for the future. Developing the necessary standards is but one of the objectives of the ‘Universal Home’ project. The goal here is to encourage future product innovations through systematic networking of the partner firms along the value chain,” notes Markus Wessel, Project Manager for Network Management at Universal Home.
