Mainz, May 15, 2012 – Whether it's knowledgeable engineers, internationally experienced business graduates or talented young people with university degrees, at a time when there are not enough qualified employees to go around, these groups of individuals are all in high demand and being wooed. Whereas they once had to sell themselves to potential employers, it is now up to companies to arouse their interest and gain these applicants’ trust. Very few companies do this as successfully as SCHOTT, however. The technology group was just recognized as the best “Employer Brand” in the “Industry” category in the study entitled “Career’s Best Recruiters.”

“Motivated and highly qualified employees are the prerequisites for our company’s success. For this reason, we constantly work hard to catch the eye of promising applicants and give these individuals insights into our working environment. The fact that we just received the highest score in our field clearly shows that we are on the right track,” explains Prof. Udo Ungeheuer, Chairman of the Board of Management of SCHOTT AG.

The study “Career’s Best Recruiters” examined the recruiting quality of Germany’s 500 largest employers. It analyzed how applicants perceive recruiting activities starting with a company’s Internet presence to social media channels, appearance at trade fairs and how firms react to unsolicited job applications. Dr. Armin Trost, a Professor at Furtwangen University, and Prof. Wolfgang Elšik, Chairman of the Institute for Human Resource Management at the Vienna University of Economics and Business, were responsible for the scientific design of the study. SCHOTT came in 27th place overall and 1st place in the “Industry” category. The awards ceremony was held in Frankfurt/Main, Germany, at a gala event.

“For us, it is extremely important to inform applicants of career opportunities, react quickly to inquiries and communicate eye to eye with them. We therefore decided to expand our online channels and rely more heavily on visual communication. Younger applicants, in particular, appreciate this,” explains Stephanie Wilcken, responsible for recruiting on a global basis at SCHOTT.

SCHOTT also did well in the CLEVIS Employer Matrix’s trainee overview by being honored with a “Star.” Of the 105 trainees who rated the technology group, 90 percent said they are satisfied with their positions and 86 percent confirmed that they would also recommend this job to their friends.
