EU PVSEC: SCHOTT Solar discloses further details on its new InDaX module series

  • Available as of March, 2010, in Germany, France and Italy
  • SCHOTT Solar to exhibit at EU PVSEC in hall B5, booth 77

When the solar trade exhibition and conference EU PVSEC opens its gates in September, the latest highlight of the SCHOTT Solar product portfolio will also be on display: InDaX 225, an esthetic new series of modules for integration into roofs that suit all of the usual formations. They turn a traditional protective roof into an energy roof. Starting in March, 2010, the modules from the new series will be available in Germany, France and Italy. Interested parties can experience them in advance at the EU PVSEC in hall B5 on booth 77, when the event takes place for the 24th time in Hamburg from September 21-25, 2009.

“For all those who are planning to install a solar system on a new building or as part of renovations on their roof, roof-integrated systems like the SCHOTT Solar InDaX may well offer a viable alternative,” recommends Board member Michael Harre, the company’s Chief Sales Officer, and adds: “Integrated and rooftop systems cost about the same, however integrated systems offer an advantage, because no more roofing material is needed for the surface area. Therefore, they actually cost less.” The type of roof that is planned for the remaining surface area really doesn’t matter. Regardless of whether wavy or flat roof tiles, shingles or sheets of slate are to be used, the new InDaX Series simply looks great with any type of roofing. The solar elements are screwed onto the roof battens and then fastened to the surrounding roofing material or the edge of the roof (ridge, eaves or verge) using a cladding system, like the ones that are used with modern roof windows.

To ensure that both the modules and the building are protected from adverse weather conditions, like hail, snow and wind, SCHOTT Solar relies on research results that were compiled over the course of several years. For example, the glass is hardened using a special technique, and the company relies on a technology originally used in aircraft construction to achieve a lasting bond between the aluminum frame and the laminate. A variety of different certifications that the module is currently undergoing document the fact that the InDaX system guarantees reliable protection for a building. These include testing certificates for fire protection, resistance to rain and increased surface loads.

Installers also appreciate the fact that the new modules are extremely lightweight, but also the “plug & play” installation, due to the fact that this calls for far fewer components than roof-integrated modules require. Last, but not least, the back ventilation of individual modules ensures optimum yields.

The modules will most likely be available from SCHOTT Solar partners in Germany, France and Italy in the power classes 214 Wp and 225 Wp starting in March of next year. (http://www.schottsolar.com/de/infothek/vertriebsnetz-pv.html).
