4-meter mirror blank cast
The ELT team of SCHOTT Advanced Optics cast the 4.25-meter secondary mirror substrate (M2) for the Extremely Large Telescope (ELT) mid of May. Due to the very narrow specification for the quality of the glass, the casting had to meet extremely high demands. Learn more in our article on the 'SCHOTT goes ELT' microsite. Medical Devices: Shining bright
When medical devices need to transfer light into smallest spaces, LED technology is coming into play. The SCHOTT® LEDgine4 allows for efficient coupling of high-power LED light and optical fibers with active diameters as small as 3 to 5 millimeters. The module is able to achieve high luminous intensity and features a configurable Color Rendering Index (CRI) to meet customer-specific application needs.
