Dr. Hans-Joachim Konz

As a member of the Board of Management Hans-Joachim Konz is responsible for the Solar business as well as for the Corporate Functions Research & Technology Development, Corporate Machinery & Production Technology and Corporate Business Development. He is also Chairman and Member of the Supervisory Board at several SCHOTT subsidiaries and joint ventures as well as Chairman of the Executive Board of the Hüttentechnische Vereinigung der Deutschen Glasindustrie (HVG, Research Association of the German Glass Industry).

Hans-Joachim Konz was born in Euskirchen, Germany, in 1960. He studied mechanical engineering, specializing in production engineering, at RWTH (Technical University) in Aachen and completed his studies in 1985 gaining his ‘Diplom-Ingenieur’ master's degree in engineering. Thereafter he worked as research assistant at RWTH Aachen, where he was awarded his ‘Dr.-Ing.’ engineering doctorate in 1989.
