SCHOTT MIRONA®From sight to insight

At a glance

The switch from glass to mirror

One glass, two functions: one moment, MIRONA® glass is a stylish, shimmering mirror of silver, and the next, it offers unimpeded views in and out. It's an amazing effect, and unlike other switchable glass products, this effect is produced solely by the coatings applied to MIRONA® glass. The light level behind the glass determines what you see.

MIRONA® glass is a mineral glass that has been coated on both sides. It has low absorption losses and is extremely homogeneous with respect to reflection and transmission. Thanks to its optical interference layer, it has precisely defined states of reflection and transmission. This purely physical principle makes MIRONA® glass an ideal choice to create eye-catching effects.

Key facts

  • Magically transforms from a mirror to transparent glass
  • No maintenance required
  • Durable
  • Easy to clean
  • Five different styles available

Fascinating design possibilities

MIRONA® glass offers various possible applications: museums can display their exhibits interactively with MIRONA® glass shelves and cases. In the field of industrial product design, MIRONA® glass opens up a whole new perspective on designing lighting and consumer electronics. And how stylish is a computer workstation with a screen that never gets dusty and simply disappears behind a mirror when you turn it off?
