In addition to generating energy, ASI® Glass modules for architectural solutions provide several functions for modern solar architecture. Both opaque laminates (ASI OPAK®) and semitransparent laminates or double-glazing (ASI THRU®) meet the requirements of the building industry and can therefore be used with several traditional metal structure systems. Successfully used for more than 15 years, a comprehensive product range is available today: from standard formats to specific superstructures. Whatever the future holds.

Solar Electricity
ASI® Glass photovoltaic modules are based on progressive thin film technology, therefore guaranteeing particularly good power output, even in case of low irradiance. The low temperature coefficient of the ASI® technology from SCHOTT Solar ensures that there will be virtually full output, even at the higher temperature levels typical for building integration.
Design
ASI® Glass modules are available in several different versions. Depending on the application and the desired architectural appearance, the design variety – from opaque to semitransparent - enables attractive integration into the building. Experienced partners in the glass processing industry use solar cells and SCHOTT ASI® raw modules to manufacture customized solar glass elements: individual solar architecture by SCHOTT Solar.

Shade
Low total energy input: to keep the heat energy input as low as possible during the summer months, glass areas must be equipped with additional sun protection. This can be done by using additional glass coatings or blinds. The energy transmission related to the solar energy available in total is described as the g-value. The lower the g-value, the more effective the shading effects. ASI THRU® double glazing achieves a g-value of 10%, and is therefore comparable with external sun protection devices.

Thermal Insulation
The U-value (former k-value) describes the thermal insulation of materials used for the building shell. The glass surfaces have an important task here: on the one hand they should be transparent to let the light in and on the other hand provide the best possible heat insulation. Modern glass coatings (low-e) allow this selection between short-wave and long-wave sun and heat radiation. Our photovoltaic ASI THRU® double glazing achieves lower U-values than high-quality conventional double glazing. In other words it is suitable for extensive glazing without a loss of isolation comfort in winter time. With a 20-year performance guarantee. Whatever the future holds.
