PYRAN® S & PYRANOVA® - General Information about CE-Marking

Definitions
|
CE is the abbrevation of "Communautés Européennes", which means "European Community". It's a declaration by the manufacturer that his product meets the requirements of the applicable European Directive. The CE-marking shows that the product conforms to EN standards and that it is suitable for sale on the European market with the result, that construction products will circulate freely within the EU.
It lays in the responsibility of the importer / person, who will bring the product on the market to ensure that it is correctly marked with the CE-sign. The CE-marking gives no explanation about:
the origin of the product
the quality of the product
the performance of the product
is no licence, which allows the application of the product in several areas inside of the EU. The CE-marking has been established to give companies easier access into the European market to sell their products without adaptation or rechecking.

For basic products, toughened glass and coated glasses, the starting date is 1 September 2005. There is a one-year period during which manufacturers may decide to use the CE-marking for their products. From beginning of September 2006 the CE-marking will be mandatory.

To comply with CE-marking, SCHOTT put the following information on its packaging labels : - CE-logo,
- product standard,
- number of the certificate and
- the website with detailed information.
Additionally the products are marked with :- PYRAN® S
- brand name
- thickness of the product
- product standard,
- impact standard
- PYRANOVA®
- brand name
- product standard,
- impact standard
- name of processor
