Infrared Ceramic

FOR ADVANCED IMAGING, SENSING AND SECURITY

Zinc Sulfide (ZnS) is a key material for broadband infrared windows, domes and optics.  No other material offers the combination of optical properties and environmental resistance.  However, conventional Zinc Sulfide is produced through chemical vapor deposition (CVD)  and does not take full advantage of the material’s properties.  SCHOTT has developed a ceramic process to produce polycrystalline Zinc Sulfide (SCHOTT IRC-1) which has markedly improved optical and mechanical performance when compared to CVD processed materials.
