Glass Rods in new length up to 1 Meter
Effective immediately, SCHOTT supplies fire-polished glass rods that are only millimeters in thickness and up to 1000 mm long for efficient manufacturing of small lenses
The length of the rods enables considerably higher yields, while the smaller diameter results in a decreased loss of material during manufacturing of smaller components. The fire-polished surface of the rods is already suitable for a variety of applications. After all, the new dimensions of the rod ensure easy processing and reduce the processing time significantly.

Portfolio Expansion of Low Tg Glasses
SCHOTT Advanced Optics has expanded the availability of optical glasses suitable for the precision molding process.
In addition to the already established P- and N-glasses the following glass types have additionally been successfully tested for the precision molding process: N-KZFS2, N-KZFS4, N-KZFS5, N-KZFS8, N-LAF33, N-LASF46B and SF57. We have further improved the N-LASF46A. The new variety N-LASF46B (nd= 1.90366 ; vd = 31.32) posses a significantly improved transmittance in the blue area (at 400 nm, 10 mm) = 85% and is also well suitable for the precision mold process.

“True Color”: Low Tg glasses for life sciences applications
The glass types N-KZFS4, N-KZFS5, N-KZFS8 are part of the special short flint glasses that SCHOTT offers but feature particularly high transmission within the blue-violet spectral range combined with a remarkable low fluorescence at an excitation wavelength of 365 nm.
These glasses that SCHOTT also refers to as “True Color” glasses are being used more and more frequently in the fluorescence microscopy because they are ideally suited for realizing correction apochromatic designs
