Coated Lightguides

Product Information

A light guide is a parallel-piped substrate with 6 polished sides and one or two opposite coated sides. The 4 remaining sides transmit light with total internal light reflection.

Benefits

Having accumulated years of experience in the production of light guides, SCHOTT Advanced Optics is more than equipped to provide coated lightguides of various sizes and materials.

In addition, we have available:
  • Special coatings for high power applications (thereby requiring high power laser damage threshold)
  • Ion Assisted Deposition (IAD) coating for high adhesion and very stable spectral flank (independent from humidity)

Key Applications

Coated lightguides are often used in medical applications such as:
  • Components for laser epilating equipment
  • Skin treatment equipment
  • Ophthalmology

Materials Used

Coated lightguides can be manufactured with a variety of materials such as:
  • Optical glass
  • Fused silica LITHOSIL®
  • Borosilicate glass
  • Sapphire

Forms of Supply

Our standard forms of supply include parallel-piped, rectangular or conical, and round rods with dimension ranging from 1 to 200 mm.

Specifications

We can produce plane parallel polished substrates in line with our customers' drawings, ISO 10110 and MIL specifications.
  • Hard coating with IAD (ion assisted deposition) machines, with high adhesion
  • Special attention is paid to chip specification
  • Special attention is paid to minimal levels

Quality Assurance

Our quality control is based on self-checking during production and a 100% final inspection. For high power light applications, an additional high power laser damage threshold test report can be supplied upon request.
