With our headquarters in Germany, our applications engineering team and our research and development team at Otto Schott Research Center in Mainz – Europe’s largest and most modern – have access to the world’s leading glass research centers as well as to our certified and accredited laboratories on-site in our locations worldwide.
Our engineers and scientists are well-experienced and are in constant communication with leading institutes in areas, such as technical glass and glass-ceramics consulting, coating technologies, optical components for industrial and consumer industries, bonding and joining technology. Their competencies excel in various applications, including astronomy and space projects, consumer as well as industrial applications.

The SCHOTT Research Center, as a very important part of our site in Duryea, works in close co-operation with leading American research institutes in areas such as analytical service and technical consulting, new and improved glasses and glass-ceramics, coating technologies, optical components for industrial and consumer industries, photovoltaics and solar thermal technologies as well as thin glasses for display applications.

The SCHOTT Applications Center Asia was officially established in Suzhou, China in 2007. The goals of the Center is three-fold: first, to expand SCHOTT’s Advanced Optics technical support services for our customers in China & Asia; second, to function as a technical hub that gives our customers direct, local-based access to SCHOTT´s worldwide technical expertise; third, to create a technical hub that is part of the network of top optical and specialty glass technology institutes in China and Asia.
With 300 square meters of lab space and 300 square meters of office space, the center is well-equipped to provide research and development as well as trouble shooting services to customers in Asia.
